Won’t raise prices after govt’s new duty: Jindal Steel

The government has imposed an anti-dumping duty on certain stainless steel product. This notice pertains to the import of
stainless steel, cold rolled flat products of 600 millimetres and above. Jindal Stainless is the larger producer of 600
millimetres to 1,500 millimetre stainless steel having 65-70% of the market share followed by Steel Authority of India’s
Salem Steel Plant and one in Gujarat – Shah Alloys.
MC Mathur, Director of Jindal Stainless, said this notification would not induce the company to increase its prices. “The
only thing, which this notification will ensure is that cheap imports will not flow into the country.”
