TCS ties up with Rajasthan Royals as tech partner

April 8th, 2009

TCS has logged onto the Indian Premier League mania. It has tied up with Rajasthan Royals, the winner of the first IPL season, as a technology partner. CNBC-TV18’s Kenan Machado finds out why IPL is big for India’s largest software exporter, that too at a time when it is on a cost cutting spree.

No Shilpa Shetty and no cheer leaders. Yet TCS found it glamorous enough to associate itself with Rajasthan Royals for the second season for the Indian Premier League. For the next three years, TCS will provide technology to Rajasthan Royals. But make no mistake, this is a regular sponsorship deal. But why spend when one is trimming its workforce and cutting corners?

Jayant Pendharkar, Head-Global Marketing, TCS, said, “That is a valid question, but I think anyone will realise that marketing is an investment you have to make in the future. Even though these are difficult times, it keeps our brand alive in the eyes and ears of our stakeholders.”
