Sensex above 15K led by banks, telecom, infrastructure
At 15:12 hours IST – the benchmark indices were witnessing buying interest despite seeing some volatility. Buying in capital goods, power, telecom, realty, financial, pharma and in stocks like Reliance Industries, HUL, Maruti, Grasim and TCS was helping the Sensex to move above the 15,000 mark.
The broader indices were also following the same trend, as about 2124 shares advanced while 760 shares declined. Nearly 254 shares were unchanged. However, selling was still seen in metal stocks and Infosys, Wipro, Ambuja Cements, Tata Power and M&M.
The Sensex rose 137 points, to 15,007 and the Nifty gained 47 points at 4,575, at 15:12 hours IST. The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices were up 2.3% each.
On the sectoral front, BSE Realty and Capital Goods indices gained 3-3.5%. Healthcare and Power indices were up over 2%. Bank and FMCG indices went up over 1%. However, Metal Index fell 2%.
Among the midcap stocks, Jaiprakash Hydro, Nirma, Engineers India, Max India and Atlas Copco went up 14-18.5%. In the smallcap space, Lakshmi Machine surged 28.93%. Swaraj Mazda, Sahara One, Infomedia 18 and Sunflag Iron shot up 20% each.
