Mkts ranged; ONGC, NTPC, Bharti, ICICI Bank, TCS dip

The markets were ranged and saw some consolidation. The sell-off in ONGC, Bharti, NTPC, HUL, HDFC, ICICI Bank, SBI, TCS, Wipro, Tata Motors, Ambuja Cements and Grasim capped the gains. However, buying was seen in Reliance Industries, ITC, Infosys, BHEL, L&T, Tata Power, HDFC Bank, SAIL, Sterlite, Unitech and ACC.
At 12:54 pm, the Sensex was trading at 9,502, up 31 points while the Nifty was trading at 2,936, down 2 points. Broader indices were quiet in trade today.
The market breadth was slightly in favour of declines; about 1351 shares advanced while 1549 shares declined. Nearly 172 shares were unchanged.
